Hose for Alcohol (Non-Drinking Applications)
*If you look for a hose for transferring alcohol (Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol), Methyl Alcohol (Methanol) and Isopropyl Alcohol), HAKKO recommends Olefin-Based KY Hose Series for the following three features.
1. Less Likely to be Hardened and Longer Duration
We pour the alcohol inside the hose (E-TB and E-KYS) and seal them at the both ends. We measured how much the weight has been changed as time passes by. As you see the picture above, E-TB: PRESSURE HOSE (made of PVC) becomes harder than E-KYS. Thus, compared with a PVC Hose, HAKKO KY Hose Series are less likely to be hardened.
2. Moderate Chemical Resistance
Although compared with Flexible Fluorine Resin Hose Series, chemical resistance of HAKKO KY Hose Series is inferior. However, since the inner layer of HAKKO KY Hose Series is made of Olefin, it shows moderate chemical resistance.

However, for some chemicals (such as Nitric Acid, Hydrochloric Acid and Sulfuric Acid), HAKKO KY Hose Series are better than HAKKO Flexible Fluorine Resin Hose Series. This is because these chemicals are highly volatile, affecting the outer layer (polyurethane layer). Since Styrene (the Outer Layer of HAKKO KY Hose Series) is better than Polyurethane (the Outer Layer of HAKKO Flexible Fluorine Resin Hose Series), we recommend HAKKO KY Hose Series for some chemicals. (Please note that depending on the temperature and concentration of fluids, HAKKO KY Hose Series cannot stand.)
3. Various Adoption Examples to Alcohol-Related Customers
HAKKO KY Hose Series have been adopted by many alcohol-related customers such as alcohol, hand sanitizer gel manufacturing and antiseptic solution manufacturing factories. In fact, alcohol is used for many applications such as aerosol and detergents.
Current Problem: Black Mold Contamination to the Final Product
Factory A, manufacturing alcohol gel, has been using PVC hoses to fill in the cooling gel. However, the black mold appeared on the final product, and Factory A was investigating why this happened. It turned out that the black mold came from the plasticizer that PVC hoses have. Factory A was looking for the alternative hose product and contacted HAKKO.
Solution: KY SUNFOODS HOSE [E-KYS]
HAKKO recommended KY SUNFOODS HOSE [E-KYS] that does not contain any plasticizer. Even after 6 months’ trial, there was no black mold on the final product. Besides this, Factory A accepted the hardness (handling) of E-KYS. As a result, Factory A decided to adopt KY SUNFOODS HOSE [E-KYS] for all pipes for cooling gel.
