HAKKO Hose for Meeting RoHS 2.0 Restricted Substances’ Requirements
[ RoHS Directive ]
The purpose of RoHS Directive is to minimize the risks of causing environmental damages or affecting human health by limiting hazardous substances, which contained in electronic and electrical equipment (including packaging materials) sold in EU countries.
[ REACH Regulations ]
This is a regulation for the purpose of registration, evaluation, approval, and restriction of chemical substances in EU countries. These chemical substances are referred to substances of very high concern (sometimes called SVHC) and have very high environmental and human health concerns.
Both RoHS Directive and REACH Regulations restrict the harmful substances and minimize the causes of environmental destruction and dangers of negative effects to human health, but the scope of these two regulations is different.
|REACH Regulations||RoHS Directive|
|Industry||Almost all of the Industries||Mainly in Electrical and Electronic Industry|
|Substances||Contents of 1,500 Substances of Very High Concern||Contents of 10 Substances (Some are not covered.)|
The Revised RoHS Directive (RoHS 2.0)
The RoHS Directive was replaced by the revised RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU: known as “RoHS2”) effective on January 3, 2013. The revised point includes the expansion of the range of products covered (Medical devices, excluded from the RoHS Directive, are now covered under RoHS2 Directive, and “Other Electrical and Electronic Equipment” is added) and the addition of regulated substances, review, and application of CE marking (declaration of conformity). As a result of this revision, 4 substances of phthalic acid compounds were added as a new regulation item, and from July 2019, sales of these substances will be prohibited in the EU except for some categories (As of March 19, 2019).
Additional substances prohibited by RoHS 2, announced in EU Official Report on June 4, 2015
- Diisobutyl Phthalate [DIBP]: Plasticizer such as Polyvinyl Chloride
- Di-2 Ethylhexyl Phthalate [DEHP]: Plasticizer such as Polyvinyl Chloride
- Butyl Benzyl phthalate [BBP]: Plasticizer for Polysulfide Resins
- Dibutyl Phthalate [DBP]: Plasticizer such as Polyvinyl Chloride
